Operating
in the service sector
The
stock market flotation of former intergovernmental organisations
such Intelsat, Eutelsat and Inmarsat are typical examples
of the Western approach to a commercial satellite marketplace.
However, the recent launch of Intersputnik Holding Ltd, the
commercial arm of Intersputnik set to operate in the service
sector, seems to suggest that there could be such a thing
as a Russian way to market economy. Giovanni Verlini, Editor
of Satellite Evolution Asia, caught up with Oleg Timoshenko,
President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Intersputnik
Holding, to talk about this new market player.

Telesat's Anik F2 satellite with spot beams. The demonstration used Advantech
