In it for the long haul
Over the past few months, US aerospace conglomerate
Lockheed Martin has been re-assessing its position within
the commercial satellite marketplace. Giovanni Verlini met
with Marshall D. Byrd, the newly-appointed President of Lockheed
Martin Commercial Space Systems (LMCSS), to discuss the future
strategy of the satellite manufacturing arm of the North American

Wednesday 25 October 2006, Telenor entered into a definitive agreement
with Apax Partners France for the sale of Telenor Satellite Services
(TSS) to funds managed by Apax Partners for a cash consideration
of USD 400 million (NOK 2,640 million). Since 2002 Telenor has defined
Telenor Satellite Services as non-core business. Apax Partners intends
to pursue the development of the company in Norway and abroad...

Radyne reports third quarter sales of $32.1
million
Radyne
Corporation reported net sales for the third quarter of 2006 of
$32.1 million compared to third quarter 2005 net sales of $32.1
million. During the quarter, net sales for the amplifier segment
(Xicom Technology) rose to $15.6 million, an increase of 15% from
third quarter 2005 sales of $13.6 million. Net sales for the satellite
electronics and broadcast segment for the quarter were $16.5 million

Service restored to PAS-6B Satellite
Intelsat
has announced its PAS-6B satellite experienced an anomaly early
this morning during a routine, scheduled maneuver. The satellite
is used primarily by a Brazilian direct-to-home television service.
Services were completely restored this afternoon with all transponders
operating normally...
