From the Executive Director,
APT |
New technologies are having profound impact on communication industry
in the Asia-Pacific region which is now considered the economic
powerhouse with economies that are dynamic and entrepreneurial.
Due to the special characteristics of the Asia Pacific region,
satellite communication, which provides large coverage, has become
very important in the Asia-Pacific region. Satellite communication
is finding several applications in various sectors of economy and
various areas of technology. Satellite digital multimedia broadcasting
has created a new era of broadcasting, delivering real ubiquitous
multimedia services to vehicles and to personal users. There is
a growing need for authentic and updated information about satellite
communications.
The APSCC Yearbook is an important reference source covering key
aspects of satellite communications. On behalf of the Asia Pacific
Telecommunity I would like to convey my congratulations and greetings
to the APSCC for bringing out this useful publication. My best wishes
for its success.
