IPSTAR-1 satellite was successfully launched on 11 August 2005 aboard an Ariane 5 rocket. Giovanni Verlini, Editor of Satellite Evolution Asia (SEA), spoke with Dr Dumrong Kasemset, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shin Satellite, the person who conceived and developed the IPSTAR project.
