Putting risk into perspective
We are all more than aware that the world is experiencing a credit
crisis but how is this affecting the global insurance industry and
those who assess the risk of space-based assets. Philippe Montpert,
Managing Director of Paris-based Willis Inspace generously agreed
to speak to Helen Jameson from the point of view of the insurer.

Eutelsat achieves revenue
growth of 7 percent
Commenting on
2008-2009 first quarter revenues, Giuliano Berretta, Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer of Eutelsat Communications said: "With
revenue growth of 7% in our first quarter reflecting the expansion
of all activities in our markets, Eutelsat's performance underlines
the efficiency of our strategy. Broadcast and broadband activities,
which generate more than 80% of our revenues, show significant dynamic
as well as potential for further expansion as more and more countries
transitioning into a fully digital environment have recourse to
satellites to ensure that all homes and businesses can benefit from
access to digital services"...

Globecomm Systems reports Fiscal
2009 First Quarter Financial Results
Globecomm Systems has
announced financial results for the fiscal 2009 first quarter ended
September 30, 2008. Globecomm is reporting its financial results
on a generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) basis as well
as adjusted EBITDA, a non-GAAP financial measure. In the attached
table the Company provides a detailed reconciliation of GAAP earnings
to adjusted EBITDA...

Record $255.5 million in new awards
pushes sales backlog above $523 million
ViaSat Inc.has
announced financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year
2009. The fiscal second quarter results include record net new contract
awards of $255.5 million, record revenues of $159.3 million, and
non-GAAP diluted net income per share of $0.39 or $0.29 per share
on a diluted GAAP basis. Year-to-date, ViaSat reported net new contract
awards of $461.4 million, total revenues of $312.2 million and non-GAAP
diluted net income per share of $0.68 or $0.49 per share on a diluted
GAAP basis...

FURUNO and JRC invest in new JSAT
MOBILE joint venture
Stratos Global
Corporation(Stratos) today announced that FURUNO Electric Co., Ltd.
(FURUNO) and Japan Radio Co., Ltd. (JRC) and have become shareholders
in JSAT MOBILE Communications Inc. (JSAT MOBILE). FURUNO and JRC,
both leading marine electronics manufacturers, will each assume
a 10 percent share in JSAT MOBILE...

Lawsuits filed against each of the
guarantors to the $47 million termination fee
Gilat Satellite
Networks reported that it had filed lawsuits against each of the
parties that had guaranteed the payment of a termination fee under
the Merger Agreement that was approved by the Company's shareholders
on July 3, 2008...

Punitive damage award approximately
$707 million
A Los Angeles
Superior Court jury has awarded ICO Global Communications (Holdings)
Limited (NASDAQ: ICOG) $236 million in punitive damages in its case
versus The Boeing Company and its Boeing Satellite Services International
subsidiary (collectively, "Boeing") (NYSE: BA). Today's
award is in addition to the at least $371 million awarded last week
when the jury found Boeing liable for fraud, tortious interference,
and breach of contract...

for the company
VT iDirect
has announced the results of its 2008 Customer Satisfaction Survey
Ratings, revealing record approval marks for the company, its products
and services. For the third time in the survey’s three-year
history, iDirect has exceeded customer expectations in every survey
category, achieving a 90.2 (out of 100) overall customer satisfaction
rating. iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications
