Space Environment Research Centre announces management changes

The Space Environment Research Centre (SERC) is pleased to announce the appointment of David Ball to the position of Chief Executive Officer. David succeeds Dr Ben Greene who will step down as CEO and join the SERC Board on 11 December.

Chair of the SERC Board, Professor Mary O’Kane AC, said: “David brings a wealth of experience in the defence and space sectors to this role. We are delighted he has accepted this position”.

She paid tribute to Dr Ben Greene: “Ben had the vision for this CRC and we have been very fortunate to share him with EOS Ltd as CEO driving both entities for over 2 years. But EOS’s recent growth has made this arrangement unstainable. Ben will still be very involved in SERC as a Board member and chair of the Research Management Committee however.”

David Ball said a major focus of SERC in 2018 will be hosting the 21st International Workshop on Laser Ranging in Canberra from 5-9 November 2018. “The workshop will draw delegates from leading international space agencies and space research centres with expertise in space and laser ranging. The workshop will culminate with a day dedicated to examining the growing issue of space debris and the need for establishment of a global space traffic management system. I invite all interested parties to register an expression of interest in the workshop on the SERC website”.
