COMSAT partners with California utility to bring fiber optic connectivity to Santa Paula teleport

COMSAT the leading government satellite connectivity provider in the United States, announces today that it has partnered with SCE Carrier Solutions, a division of Southern California Edison (SCE), to bring layer 1 fiber optic infrastructure to its Santa Paula teleport facility. The new network delivers an enhanced level of connectivity to COMSAT’s multi-purpose teleport, strengthening its ability to keep its customers connected all the time.

For COMSAT, the switch from its current layer 3 service to SCE’s layer 1 solution supports the critical role its Santa Paula teleport plays in functioning as a network node, data center, meet-me point and customer support center for business and government users. As a result of SCE’s fiber cable installation, COMSAT has direct control over the resulting bandwidth, allowing it to run traffic of its choosing and provision circuits in real time to meet the unique needs of its end users.
