Paradigm makes satcom simple at IBC 2019 showcasing the latest PIM-enabled terminals

This year at IBC, Paradigm is showcasing their latest PIM-enabled terminals, designed to make satcom simple and enable the broadcast market to achieve high-speed connectivity anywhere in the world.

Satcom terminals on show are the new comms-on-the-move MANTA® and the ‘internet-in-a-backpack’ SWARM®

The latest MANTA terminal just needs power to provide a complete solution for ‘anywhere’ IP data connectivity via Wi-Fi and Ethernet. It can operate straight ‘out-of-the-box’ for simple comms-on-the-pause or can be quickly fitted to any vehicle (land or sea) for comms-on-the-move. The MANTA uses software beam forming for satellite acquisition and tracking; the on-board PIM® controller provides an optimised satellite service requiring no specialist skills to offer easy, high speed data service anywhere.

The MANTA+ uses an enhanced feature set to integrate 3G/4G/LTE cellular, radio and Wi-Fi connectivity that improves on the standard MANTA package to produce a completely flexible terminal that is always connected, switching between terrestrial and satellite networks to best suit the needs of the user.

The SWARM is small and light enough to be carried as hand luggage on commercial airlines yet still delivers impressively high data rates. It can be assembled in 90 seconds and have you on air in less than 4 minutes.

Paradigm’s other PIM-enabled terminals include the flyaway CONNECT100T and HORNET range. These all integrate the PIM to enable a non-skilled user to point a terminal in less than a minute, simply by following straightforward onboard audio and visual cues.

For broadcasters needing to be ‘first on the scene’ the PIM allows both Ka and Ku networks to be used easily and effectively. A secure network can be created for VoIP, SIP and cellular phones and it can even provide Power over Ethernet to localise power requirements.

The PIM is a rugged, field-proven, global solution operating in many different market sectors across 5 continents. It can work with any air interface to provide a common pointing experience across a whole range of manufacturers’ terminals. The PIM integrates into all the major satellite networks as well as a wide range of modems, supporting the major types from iDirect, Newtec, UHP, Comtech and Teledyne Paradise amongst others.

At IBC, videos of all Paradigm’s PIM-enabled terminals will be available to view on our stand (1.F49) with both the SWARM and MANTA available for attendees to be hands-on with.

Ongoing booth activities will include demonstrations of the straightforward operation of the PIM, with attendees able to experience how easily the onboard visual and optional audio cues guide the user during the pointing process for our flyaway terminals.
