ST Engineering iDirect named “Company to Watch” at the Mobility Innovation Awards 2020

ST Engineering iDirect, a company of ST Engineering North America, has been named the ‘Company to Watch’ at the Mobile Satellite Users Association’s (MSUA) Satellite 2020 Mobility Awards.

As the demand for always-on, on-the-move connectivity continues to grow exponentially, ST Engineering iDirect has been recognized for its leading mobility position and solutions that empower its customers to deliver a broad range of services across all mobility segments. The company also received recognition for its vision and passion to facilitate seamless connectivity as new constellations, applications and markets emerge.

The accolade, which was presented at an exclusive ceremony that took place as part of SATELLITE 2020, follows ST Engineering’s acquisition of Newtec Group (renamed ST Engineering iDirect) in October 2019. As one combined business group, ST Engineering iDirect is bringing forward a strong and unified portfolio of products across all mobility markets, offering the innovation, scale and speed to market that its customers require to succeed in the evolving industry landscape. The ultimate goal is to create the world’s most advanced satellite ground network infrastructure capabilities – bringing together the companies’ technology heritage and passion for innovation.

“We are extremely pleased to be named the ‘Company to Watch’ by the MSUA at such a pivotal time within the satellite sector,” said Kevin Steen, CEO at ST Engineering iDirect. “Our industry is entering a new and exciting era; we are on the cusp of realizing new revolutionary technologies such as Non-Geostationary-Satellite Orbit constellations and 5G, and a strategic element to the industry’s success at this time of change is the ground segment. By combining the strengths of both Newtec and ST Engineering iDirect, we are redefining ground-infrastructure capabilities to drive industry-wide interoperability, broadband connectivity of mass-scale and to enable our customers to offer unified, value-added services, whether they are on the move, or wherever they are in the world. This award is a testament to this innovation and commitment.”

Through its vision, ST Engineering iDirect is driving the industry forward in collaboration with a global customer network of top industry players, empowering the ecosystem to build, integrate and deploy satellite end points and services that will enable new applications and open new revenue streams.

The MSUA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting satellite mobility innovation and development of the satellite mobility market worldwide. The judging panel awarded ST Engineering iDirect the accolade based on its mobile applicability, currently in use in the field by customers and how the company is addressing future market needs.

The winners were announced at MSUA's Satellite 2020 Mobility Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, March 10, during SATELLITE 2020, at the Washington Convention Center, Washington DC, U.S.
