Spacepath Communications to showcase pioneering new satcom amplifier design at Cabsat

SpacePath Communications a dedicated, European-based SATCOM amplifier manufacturer and equipment supplier, will be showcasing its high-power Ka-band travelling wave tube (TWT) amplifiers, featuring an industry first, at CABSAT.

SpacePath's 650W Ka-band high power amplifier

Using the latest 650W high-power TWT, SpacePath’s Ka-band amplifier range incorporates a unique carbon fin air-cooling heat sink. The newly-developed design possesses similar thermal properties to copper but is around half the weight of equivalent cooling systems in common use.

Leading the industry in terms of small size, high efficiency and low weight, the new outdoor, uplink amplifier range provides an L- band input, with coverage across the entire Ka-band (27-31GHz).

In addition to the company’s lightweight cooling structure, the amplifier range also innovates in other areas by featuring removable and washable air intake filters for cost-effective maintenance and user convenience.

Colin Bolton, director of business development, SpacePath Communications, said: “With satellite and broadcast technologies playing an increasingly pivotal role during these challenging times, it’s never been more important for the SATCOM industry to continue to evolve. By incorporating a unique carbon-based, air-cooling structure, we have again underlined our leadership in high-power millimetre wave amplifier design where we strive to innovate with practical, end-user features.”

SpacePath’s high performance uplink amplifiers cover all mission-critical segments including satellite newsgathering (DSNG), flyaway or truck-based systems, fixed-earth stations and military satellite communications.
