The Dynamic Spectrum Alliance welcomes Federal Communications Commission’s TV White Spaces orders

The Dynamic Spectrum Alliance (DSA) welcomes the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) unanimous decision to clarify its TV White Space (TVWS) rules.

“With tens of millions of Americans still lacking access to broadband, the Dynamic Spectrum Alliance is pleased to see that the Commission is clarifying its rules to provide internet service providers additional flexibility to leverage TV white spaces when deploying broadband networks in rural areas,” said Mark Rotter, Treasurer of the DSA. “This positive step is long overdue and we urge the Commission to expeditiously take further steps to provide internet service providers additional access to TV white spaces.”

“Specifically, the Commission should issue a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on proposals in the record to allow access to additional TV white space channels and provide internet service providers more flexibility to deploy narrowband Internet of Things (IoT) networks and install fixed TV white space radios on school buses and tractors within geographically defined areas,” added Rotter.
