December ‘HTS Roundtable’ to feature Isotropic Systems & GVF keynotes; March 2020 ‘Satellite & the Cloud’ details announced

November 20, 2019

‌The GVF-C21 Partnership has announced details of the opening keynote addresses to be given at the HTS Roundtable: GEOs, MEOs, LEOs – Enabling a Brave New World on 2nd December 2019 at ETC Venues-St Pauls, 200 Aldersgate, London EC1A 4HD.

Asking the question "2019: Is the Past Prologue?", David Meltzer, Secretary General of GVF will examine the implications for the satellite industry of the outcomes of the recently concluded ITU World Radiocommunication Conference, a quadrennial event which reviews, and, if necessary, revises the Radio Regulations, the international treaty governing the use of the radio-frequency spectrum and the geostationary-satellite and non-geostationary-satellite orbits.

John Finney, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Isotropic Systems, will discuss themes associated with his keynote title, “Flexibility to Arbitrage—The Key to Innovative Capabilities for Customers”. Enabling new and better solutions via satellite is the path to enlarging markets and creating new end users. Today there is any number of emerging capabilities that stand to positively impact commercial and defence sectors. The key is whether the satellite industry can offer customers the flexibility to arbitrage all the capabilities and effectively reach beyond to the unique and substantial opportunities for which satellite is perfectly suited.

The keynotes will be followed by a series of four interactive themed panel discussions. The programme is supported by Principal Sponsor Isotropic Systems; Corporate Sponsors SES Networks, Hughes, Comtech EF Data, Newtec (now ST Engineering iDirect [Europe]); and Associate Sponsors C-COM Satellite Systems and Integrasys.

The Partnership’s next following event, a new subject addition to the portfolio, will take place on 3rd March 2020 at Leonardo Royal Hotel London Tower Bridge, 45 Prescot Street, London E1 8GP. Satellite & the Cloud: Deployments Across the Satellite Driven Value Chain, supported by Kratos, will focus on four interactive panel-based themes and will highlight the space industry’s leveraging of Cloud-based applications. Foundation to the event is that it has taken the satellite industry time to realize the full potential of going beyond just the delivery of Cloud-based applications to remote locations via satellite, that is, the way that the Cloud has been making its mark in the satellite sector over the course of the last decade. Compared to the rest of the telecommunications sector, recognition of the greater opportunities in partnering with the Cloud is only now working through the entire, and expanding, satellite industry value chain.
